Rachel Simrell Scott
Principal, Marketing & Brand
Rachel has over a decade of experience in design, content, and brand strategy. With a formal education and professional experience in architecture, she speaks the language and understands the business, lending authenticity to her work leading all brand and marketing at Board & Vellum.
In 2013, Rachel co-founded Emerald Seven, an integrative design and web development studio where she and her partner, Blake, design and build human-centered digital products. The Board & Vellum website was designed and developed by Emerald Seven, with Rachel leading the design, strategy, and production of the site’s content at Board & Vellum.
The Board & Vellum website has won two Silver W3 Awards from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA). Before joining B&V, while practicing architecture independently, Rachel’s first solo full-house residential remodel and addition earned a REX award.
Rachel’s long fascination with how art and design impact the human experience led her to study the symbiotic relationship between world events and visual culture at Whitman College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Art History & Visual Culture. Following a stint at an architecture firm, Rachel earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon.
Seattleite since the age of two, Rachel is a Pacific Northwesterner through and through. When she steps away from the studio, you’ll find her exploring cities, museums, and enjoying the food and drink scene — later coming home to reverse-engineer deliciousness found in the wild.
Rachel Simrell Scott is a member of the Board & Vellum ownership group.
