Living Building Challenge

Our team includes Living Future Accredited (LFA) professionals.

The Living Building Challenge (LBC) is both the most creative and most rigorous green building certification in the world. It pushes the boundaries of what is possible with sustainable design by poking holes in what is believed to be sustainable in the first place.

LBC follows principles of regenerative design, aiming to have a positive impact rather than just reducing harm. It asks, “What if a building was like a flower, rooted in place and getting everything it needs from nature?” With this metaphor, Living Building imperatives — or Petals — include net positive energy, net positive water, net positive waste, and no harmful materials, along with equity, education, and beauty.

The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) shepherds this approach and oversees the certifications. There are various certifications under the ILFI umbrella besides the Living Building Challenge, including Petal Certification, Core Certification, Zero Energy, and Zero Carbon. This holistic approach inspires us to create integrated projects that are truly sustainable, beneficial, and restorative.

We are proud to share that multiple team members have experience on Living Building or other ILFI-certified projects.
