We’ve had the same mission since 2011.
We happily educate anyone interested in what we do, and deliver exceptional design and service.
Board & Vellum was founded in 2011 by Jeff Pelletier in the attic of his Capitol Hill home. He didn’t want his name on the door, wasn’t interested in only one architectural style, and was determined to show that exceptional design could come with ego-free attitude and great service.
Since those early days, we’ve grown our staff and our portfolio of work by providing honest customer service paired with beautiful design. Even at our size of nearly 50 architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and creative professionals, we deliver personalized attention and continue to advocate for improving the reputation of the design industry — both in the eyes of clients and in the eyes of the passionate people who work in this field.
In 2023, we earned a Just label from the International Living Future Institute, reflecting our commitment to social justice in our operations. By ensuring we are doing our best as a company, we can continue to do our best for our clients.

When you start from scratch, you can build not only a company, but a culture. From the time we were a firm of one, passion and great customer service have guided us. We come to work every day to help our clients, not to stroke our egos.

Our Process
Bringing your project from “idea” to fruition is a little different at Board & Vellum. We give personal care to each of our projects, and with in-house multidisciplinary design services, each project has access to a wealth of knowledge.
