Lance Hayes, AIA
Senior Associate, Architecture
Lance is an architect who doesn’t like to settle for conventionality. His conceptual approach starts with engaging as many viewpoints as possible to explore stronger ideas, uncover better solutions, and build a systemic plan of action. He encourages frequent and direct communication across teams, and close collaboration with clients.
Lance brings an extensive knowledge of the design process, familiarity with local codes, and a command of city processes to his projects, always aiming to incorporate an enticing blend of science, tradition, and technology.
In his over two decades of experience, Lance’s work has taken him around the country, working on a variety of project types, including multifamily, commercial, and mixed-use developments, as well as alpine architecture, preserving the architecture and design of national parks. Lance is also passionate about adaptive reuse and historical preservation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture with a minor in Structural Engineering from Washington University, followed by a Master of Architecture from Montana State University. He also earned certificates in Architectural Acoustics and Lighting Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Insititute.
Deeply inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest — its quality of light and limitless natural potential — Lance aims to capture its beauty in his work. When he isn’t imagining great architecture, you can find Lance reading, enjoying art, scouting out a shady tree to bask beneath, or planning his next adventure out of the city with his family and friends.
