Eclectic Style for a Kitchen Remodel
Orange is the New Knob
A kitchen remodel inspired by a treasured collection of vintage cabinet hardware knobs.
The kitchen of this remodeled Capitol Hill bungalow was inspired by the clients’ collection of mid-century teak furniture and vintage orange cabinet knobs they had been holding on to for years: eclectic kitchen design anchored with a touch of personal history.
Working with their collection, our team was able to complement these treasured artifacts and incorporate them into a fresh and bright kitchen that allows for easy entertaining: plenty of room to gather, and plenty of room to cook.
Bright, glossy, white cabinetry from IKEA serves as a neutral (and budget-friendly) backdrop, allowing visual space for the warmth of the custom teak wood cabinetry with which it’s paired to shine. Picking up the bold orange of the vintage knobs is a statement piece in any kitchen: a classic Bertazzoni range in an eye-catching orange shade that perfectly matches those orange knobs.
Other new additions to the kitchen include a custom, teak bar cart that tucks under the peninsula counter when not in use, new windows to bring light into the formerly-dark room, and teak accent shelving for displaying art and artifacts.
