Certified Passive House Consultant
Our team includes Passive House certified (CPHC) professionals.
The Passive House approach creates an extremely energy-efficient building in which a comfortable interior climate can be maintained without active heating and cooling systems. This is due to a super-insulated envelope, advanced detailing, heat recovery ventilation, and high-performance windows.
The term passive house is relatively new (the first PassivHaus was built in Germany in 1991), but simply put, Passive House is based on a set of design principles used to maximize energy efficiency. And, name aside, the approach can be applied to commercial and multifamily buildings as well as single-family residences.
Board & Vellum is unique in that Managing Principal and Founder, Jeff Pelletier, was one of the first Certified Passive House Consultants in Washington State, and we have a growing number of Passive Housecertified team members working on both custom residential and multifamily projects.
This forward-thinking and science-based approach to sustainability is changing how the public thinks about sustainability, and Board & Vellum is proud to be on the forefront. We love how the original intent of greening the built environment is reflected here: maximize your gains, minimize your losses.
